Support the local governments in implementing the Child and Adolescent Nutrition Programmes in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) province

UNICEF has been supporting the NTB
Province government to address the triple burden of malnutrition among adolescents since 2016, through the pilot of
adolescent nutrition Aksi Bergizi in Lombok Barat district. Activities were focused to advocacy and capacity building to
strengthen the planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring of eight nutrition-specific programs, which include
the integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM) – a programme to prevent and treat child wasting; the Weekly
Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) program for adolescent girls, nutrition education and social behavioural change
communication at secondary schools under Sekolah/Madrasah Sehat and Aksi Bergizi program; and nutrition in
emergencies.

In 2023, UNICEF support to NTB province for nutrition will be continued and focused on
institutionalization of IMAM services within the existing health and nutrition system, and implementation of the
adolescent nutrition Aksi Bergizi programme under the Healthy School/ Madrasah program.
